Appeals
Acquiring a really important object for the collection, updating a gallery or seed-funding new initiatives – sometimes special things are beyond our usual resources.
There may be fantastic opportunities that we want to seize or slower-burning projects to improve the Museum’s infrastructure and sustainability.
Whatever they are, our Trustees consider them important enough to ask for your help. Right now we are asking for donations to these appeals.

Tomorrow’s Museum for Dorset Project
The current transformation of the Museum has been huge with an entirely new central section built. It houses a basement and three floors of fantastic galleries.
With a total budget of £16.3 million, nearly all the funds have been raised from the National Lottery Fund, Arts Council England, the Town, District and County Councils, and many generous trusts, foundations and individuals.

Creating a Treasures Acquisition Fund
The Museum is aiming to build and sustain a restricted £50,000 to ensure funds are available to acquire important objects that might otherwise be lost.
In the past, the Museum has had to delve into its reserves or initiate fundraising activities when time is of the essence. A dedicated fund would strengthen the Museum’s competitiveness in acquiring objects and works of art for the county.
