Support us
Dorset Museum is a charity that relies totally on support from individuals, companies, charitable trusts, The Arts Council and The National Lottery Heritage Fund.
Our recent refurbishment was only possible because of such donations.
You can help us by volunteering, becoming a member or making a regular or one-off donation.
Whichever way you support us you make the museum even better – your gifts mean we can carry out research and conservation, acquire new objects, stage new exhibitions or develop our considerable work in education.
Please explore our Support pages and consider making a gift.
Thank you.

Caring for the collections
Your donations allow us to conserve and research Dorset’s most extensive historical collections – from geology to archaeology, costume to sculpture. In the Museum’s new state-of-the-art Collections Discovery Centre our curators are dedicated to ensuring every object is cared for in the best possible way.

Learning
We’re expanding our learning activities, on-site and online, to inspire all ages and abilities to discover Dorset’s wonders through the Museum’s objects, artworks and knowledge. Your donations make it possible for us to launch new activities, and to keep offering everyone’s favourites.

Volunteering
Our volunteers help make great things happen at Dorset Museum every day. Why not become a part of it all by sharing your expertise and enthusiasm with us?

Displays and exhibitions
Beyond the Museum’s fantastic new permanent galleries, there is much more to see and explore. New displays and temporary exhibitions offer visitors a chance to delve deeper into the Museum’s huge collections or enjoy treasures from further afield. Your donations help us bring touring exhibitions from all over the world – to our gold-standard temporary exhibition gallery, and create changing displays of objects throughout the Museum.
