Lecture
The Secret Lives of Plants | Professor Jonathan Drori
20 April 2023, 7:00pm - 8:30pm
If you enjoyed Jon’s talk at Thomas Hardye School at last year’s science festival, please note that this lecture will be a substantially new talk, featuring botany and extraordinary human stories.
In this copiously illustrated talk, Jonathan Drori brings to life the science, history, culture, and folklore of plants by revealing how their worlds are intricately entwined with our own. From the seemingly familiar to the eerie and downright bizarre, each story in this round-the-world tour is full of surprises, and many of them have intriguing connections to objects in the Dorset Museum.
Professor Jonathan Drori CBE is the author of ‘Around the World in 80 Plants’ and ‘Around the World in 80 Trees’, both bestsellers, published in many languages. He is a Trustee of The Eden Project and Cambridge University Botanic Garden, and an Ambassador for the WWF. He was previously a Trustee of the Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew, and The Woodland Trust and as an Executive Producer at the BBC, he was responsible for more than fifty popular programmes and series on science and technology.
