Community Projects
Moments in Time performed by Movers & Shakers
September 27, 2023
Movers & Shakers is a Dorchester-based community dance group of older women, established in 2012.
We value the artistic, social and mental health benefits of regular dance sessions as well, as the physical, and create contemporary dances inspired by a range of starting points, ideas and dance styles.
They are constantly seeking opportunities to exercise their creative muscles and were inspired by a visit to Dorset Museum, particularly the exhibits in The Natural Dorset gallery, the Roman mosaics and the architecture to create “Museum Pieces”. The choreography explores the formation of The Jurassic Coast and the secrets that lie within as well as the significance of the smallest fragments and the patterns they form. “Museum Pieces” was first performed in March 2023 at The Electric Palace in Bridport as part of a programme of dances by older adult groups and dancers with and without disabilities.
