Getting back to nature with a FREE science-based workshop at Dorset Museum
September 19, 2023
As part of a national project, Dorset Museum is offering schools free curriculum-linked workshops.
Aimed at Key Stage 2, pupils will gain a unique opportunity to learn about extraordinary hidden worlds, mini-beasts, habitats and adaptations. Pupils will explore Dorset Museum’s hidden collection, discover how early scientists worked and develop their own scientific thinking. Inspired by Dorset Museum’s incredible collection pupils will also make their own nature journal to take away.
The natural world in the UK faces numerous challenges, and it requires collective efforts from each one of us to find solutions. In collaboration with The Natural History Museum, Dorset Museum is seeking the involvement of your students to become experts in their local ecosystems, actively participate in observing and gathering new data, and take action through science to make a real difference.
During their visit to Dorset Museum, pupils will also get an opportunity to explore the Natural History Museum’s ‘Wildlife Photographer of the Year’ exhibition currently on display until 29 October. This exhibition features exceptional images which capture fascinating animal behaviour, spectacular species, and the breathtaking diversity of the natural world.
