June 5, 2023
Dorset Museum has extended its wedding portfolio and are now able to hold outdoor wedding ceremonies at the Roman Town House in Dorchester.
Just a short walk away from the Museum building, the Roman Town House is the only example of a fully exposed Roman Town House in the country. Dorset Museum is working in partnership with Dorset Council, who owns and holds the licence for The Roman Town House, to provide tours, school visits, and the ability to hire the space for outside events.
Offering hire of its award-winning venue, Dorset Museum can create the perfect setting tailored directly to your needs. The Museum is able to boast a range of fantastic spaces available for varying sizes of weddings and budgets. The addition of the Roman Town House only adds to this already diverse and unique offering.
Roger Maughan, the Museum’s Commercial Director says: ‘”My thanks to Dorset Council for offering Dorset Museum to be the operator for Wedding Ceremonies at the Roman Town House, this award-winning venue fits perfectly within our Wedding Portfolio here at Dorset Museum and allows our Events Team to now offer both unique settings for weddings and special occasion. “
Cllr Laura Beddow, Portfolio Holder for Culture and Communities, said: “We are extremely pleased to be able to have wedding ceremonies at the Roman Town House and to be working in partnership with Dorset Museum to enable this to happen. The Roman Town House is protected as a Scheduled Monument and recently has been transformed to tell the story of the site and allow better access to this special place. Weddings will be a welcome addition to the offer.”
The Museum’s committed Events Team is highly experienced in managing and holding a variety of events, from small conferences to large parties, and is available to assist in making every couple’s day perfect.
