Dorset Museum named finalist in four Dorset Tourism Awards

November 29, 2022

Dorset Museum has been named a finalist in four Dorset Tourism Award categories.

After their Silver Award in the 2021/22 Dorset Tourism Awards, Dorset Museum is a finalist in the following categories of the 2022/23 awards:

  • Large Visitor Attraction of the Year
  • Accessible and Inclusive Tourism Award
  • Business Events Venue of the Year
  • Café & Tearoom of the Year (Taste at Dorset Museum)

Dorset Museum reopened its doors in May 2021 following a major redevelopment, completely transforming its visitor experience. Accessibility across the site has been greatly improved, and new facilities have enabled the Museum to develop a successful venue hire business. The Museum’s café, run by Taste, is a busy and popular destination serving high quality food and drink to the local community and visitors from outside the county.

The Museum will find out if they have achieved Bronze, Silver, or Gold in these categories at an award ceremony held at the Tank Museum, Bovington, in January.

The Museum’s Commercial Director, Roger Maughan says: ‘The team at Dorset Museum is delighted to be finalists for these prestigious awards at the Dorset Tourism Awards. This recognition is a credit to our wonderful staff, volunteers and trustees.’

Elizabeth Selby, the Museum’s Director, says: ‘We are thrilled that the achievements of Dorset Museum over the past year have been recognised in four categories at this years’ Dorset Tourism Awards. We strive to create an outstanding welcome and experience for all our visitors and this is a huge credit to the hard work of our team since our reopening in 2021.’
